How do I change my cell phone number?

You can change your cell phone number in your account settings. The new number will be confirmed via an SMS code—it won’t take effect until then. Until then, your old number will remain active.

Important: After a change, you can’t make another one for 6 weeks. This protects your account from being transferred to a different number by someone else. The very first number you register doesn’t count toward this limit.

📱 In the app

1. Open the Account tab and tap your name at the top
2. Under Basic Information, tap “Cell Phone Number”
3. Select the country code and enter the new number
4. Tap “Update Number”
5. Enter the code from the text message—your number will be active immediately afterward

If you don’t receive a text message, tap “Resend.” If you’ve changed your mind about the change, select “Cancel Verification”—your current number will then remain active.

💻 In a web browser

1. Click your profile picture in the top-right corner, then click "Account Settings"
2. Click “Edit” in the “Phone Number” row
3. Select the country code and enter the new number in the “Your Phone Number” field
4. Click “Next”
5. In the "Verify Your Phone Number" window, enter the 6-digit code and click "Send"

Click "Resend Code" to request a new text message, or click "Change Number" to return to the form.

If it doesn’t work

• “Your number was recently changed.” — The 6-week period is still in effect. The message will specify the date when the next change can be made.
• “This number is already associated with another account.” — A number can only be associated with one account.
• “This is already your cell phone number.” — The number you entered is the one you already have.
• “The code is incorrect.” — Check the digits or request a new code. After three failed attempts, you’ll be locked out for 15 minutes.
• Didn’t receive an SMS? Check that the area code and number are correct, and request the code again after one minute.
